5 Awesome Blog Features

We are in a lull with our Monday content this week, and I had a crazy weekend of chattering on threads so I don’t have anything substantial loaded. But I don’t want to publish just a photo on a Monday, so here are five regular features at other blogs that I just love. And by the way, regular features are very helpful for keeping a blog rolling and developing a regular audience.

Taylor Grace’s “Posts I Loved this Week” is great for finding new blogs to read. It always features excellent blogs, and sometimes my own posts make the list.

Therefore I Geek’s “Around the Web” always includes a collection of geeky and interesting stories from (you guessed it!) around the web.

“The Comic-Verse: Awesome Art and & The Top 15 Featured Links” at the Speech Bubble combines a roundup of comics links with high-quality images from Deviant Art. It’s an awesome feature, and our comics posts have landed on the list many times.

“#WeekendCoffeeShare” is a feature a lot of bloggers do on the weekend. The posts can be about practically anything, and the idea is to write them as though you were having coffee with someone and chatting. Part Time Monster (run by my sister Diana) hosts a weekend link-up for the coffee posts.

You can find “Top Ten Tuesdays” at several blogs, including the always-fabulous Write On! Sisters. It’s sponsored by The Broke and the Bookish, which hosts a weekly link-up for the posts and announces the topics in advance.

We Have a New Contributor . . .

. . . and his name is Luther. You’ll want to read his every word!

Luther M. Siler, who writes awesome books about space gnomes, has joined us.

A little story now. I started this blog a year ago, and Luther is one of the first bloggers I met. I met him and Taylor Grace  on the same day by browsing the writing tag and looking for bloggers who answered my comments. I can’t remember which way it went, but I met one by leaving a comment and the other by following a gravatar link from the thread. Both of them answered me, and we’ve all had quite a blogtastic year.

Anyhow. When we first met, I did not know Luther had a name or a face because he hadn’t put any personal stuff on his blog yet. I knew him as Infinite Free Time. I had a good feeling right away because he is an artist with profanity on his own blog. (Boy! wouldn’t it be great if we could do that here?) And because his avatar is a certain skyscraper-climbing gorilla that we all know and love.

The Walking Dead is Luther’s first topic. Look for his posts late in the week and don’t get your heart set on conventional tv reviews.

Luther doesn’t really do conventional. He may even mention the comics. Or maybe not. You’ll just have to read and find out.

I intended to do a roundup of roundup posts this morning, but I ended up at a mechanic shop first thing, and ran out of time. Here’s a roundup you might like. You can have your own tag!!

I am supposed to be putting things together for tomorrow, but I just discovered this and it is information that demands to be shared. I have my own wordpress tag. Seriously. Go to your reader and follow “Gene’O.” The reader will take out the caps and the apostrophe, but allow you to see everything I’ve written that’s either tagged with my name or filed in the “By Gene’O” categories at PTM and Sourcerer.

It was Taylor Grace who helped me figure this out. I read this post over there, which was kind of inspired by one I wrote earlier, and if you want to learn something about how to deal with frustration in a healthy way, you should go and read it. I noticed that post was tagged with my first name, so I had to go and take a look.
