Star Wars Saturday: Are Star Wars Characters Interesting?

Video

Here’s a post by Hannah Givens from January of 2014. Are Star Wars Characters Interesting? It stands out in my mind as one of the best posts I read during my first few months of blogging, and since most of you probably didn’t see it the first time around, you should give it a look. And here’s a nice Star Wars-themed video I found to go along with it.

The post touched off a conversation on Facebook that spilled back onto the comment thread and possibly onto twitter as well. (Given that this was 18 months ago, details are a little fuzzy.)

If I recall correctly, this conversation marks the point at which I started keeping up with Natacha Guyot and Rose Fischer — both of which are now friends and have contributed mightily to the blog in the last year. Talk about a stroke of good fortune.

Anyway, it’s a fabulous post. Give it a look!

Why Fans Love Ms. Marvel

It’s just plain awesome that Hannah Givens is guest-posting at Comparative Geeks. Also awesome: The new Ms. Marvel is actually a relatable character. Good job, Marvel Comics! This is a bonus, comics fans. Enjoy 🙂

Comparative Geeks

Ms. Marvel #1 has recently entered its seventh printing. Seventh! That’s practically unheard of in comics, especially for a total newcomer like Kamala Khan. As Marvel.com puts it: “Marvel Comics presents the all-new MS. MARVEL, the ground breaking heroine that has become an international sensation! Kamala Khan is just an ordinary girl from Jersey City–until she is suddenly empowered with extraordinary gifts. But who truly is the all-new Ms. Marvel? Teenager? Muslim? Inhuman? Find out as she takes the Marvel Universe by storm, and prepare for an epic tale that will be remembered by generations to come. History in the making is NOW!”

Open Thread, Suzie81 edition

I’ve got no prompt today, so I’ll just thank a few bloggers for a linkup experience that’s been the highlight of my blogging week. Suzie81 posted a series of questions and asked other bloggers to answer them either on her thread or in a post and drop her the link. It’s a sort of community experiment.

Part Time Monster found it in her reader and ran with it at about the same time Suzie was shooting me the link. So of course I had to join in. I love stuff like this, especially if they involve answering questions. It’s like doing an interview. I posted my response late last night to be sure my link made it onto the thread before the deadline. EclecticAlli saw my post and posted her own answers not long after.  This morning, I woke to discover that Winter Bayne, Hannah of Things MatterNerd in the BrainApple Pie and Napalm and Not a Punk Rocker have also decided to get in on the fun.

It’s cool when linkups work out this well 🙂

Chatter away about anything at all on this thread, as long as you’re nice 😉 and have a great weekend!
