Celebrating One Year of Blogging!

Congratulations, James! I hope your next year is as good as the last.

Header (One Year)

It’s been exactly one year since I wrote my first post for this blog (‘The Journey Begins!’).

Back then I was uncertain how things would develop and I certainly couldn’t see myself still writing about Tolkien 12 months later.

I am a Very Inspiring Blogger, apparently :-)

Nerd in the Brain nominated me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award yesterday, and I could not be happier about the nomination. It came at a perfect time. Chaos Girl nominated Nerd in the Brain. You should check out Chaos Girl, too!

The great thing about this award is that there are only two rules for it:

1) The nominee shall display the Very Inspiring Blogger Award logo on her/his blog, and link to the blog they got nominated from.

2) The nominee shall nominate fifteen (15) bloggers she/he admires, by linking to their blogs and informing them about it.

So I already linked to the person who nominated me. Here’s the logo displayed on my blog:

Before I get to the nominations, let me just attach the standard disclaimer. Accepting this award or even acknowledging it is completely optional. At worst, nominees, this is me paying you a compliment. And given the title of this award, you can be sure that you have actually inspired me, in one way or another. Which is good. I hope to return the favor and inspire you all at least once before I am done. The links go to about pages or awards pages. The notifications are my way of informing you. Along with the Twitter shoutouts I’m sending you this morning, which will not mention this award at all, hehe.

Extremis Looking For New Fan Writers

Since I actively recruit guest bloggers, and know what contributors mean to a blog, I’m reblogging this today. If you write stuff that fits at ER, please consider sending them a post.

Come Join Us! Come Join Us!

Hey, Extremites, you’ve probably noticed a drop off in posts recently.

There’s a few reasons for this. I have been busy with my non-blog life, doing some new contracts around Canada and I am gearing up for a big move to the UK, aside from some health difficulties in the last month.

Anyway, all this means that Extremis needs some new writers. If you are interested in joining our roster, note our mandate is write literate articles about fan related topics.

If interested in joining send me a 500 word article about what you’d like to write  for us and we’ll go from there.

Send it to, julianrmunds@gmail.com in word, PDF or pages format.

My best, Extremites,

Julian Munds – Editor-in-Chief for the Extremis Review.

Weekend Open Thread v 0.2

Last week’s open thread resulted in so much happiness, it convinced me to give this another shot. I’m trying to figure out how to write the posts so that people who want to talk about anything (as long as it’s nice) can do that, but we also have something fun to use as a conversation starter. So, here’s a question for this weekend:

What is your earliest memory?

If three people share theirs, I’ll share mine.

As with last week, feel free to ask questions, tell me what you like or don’t like about our blogging, or chatter about whatever happens to be on your mind.
