Preview Time! House of Cards, Anyone?

Stop the presses! Diana binged on the new season of House of Cards over the weekend and she’s decided to publish a short series about it here just as soon as she can get them written. Since Netflix makes the whole season available at once, and it is trending on the Twitters right now, we’ve decided we aren’t going to blog every episode, nor draw it out for a great length of time.

Diana is working on how to organize the posts, and I will fit whatever she comes up with into the schedule as quickly as possible. I’ve wanted to see what this series would do on the blogs for a while. I love it myself, and we’re striking on this one while the iron is hot. Starting tomorrow. Here’s the teaser in the form of a tweet:

David will finish his run on Agent Carter Tuesday, we’ll have the next installment of Will’s Planescape play-through on Wednesday, and of course more Tolkien on Thursday to go along with the House of Cards. Arrow is on a two-week hiatus, so Melissa won’t be around this week 😦 but she will definitely be back.

Other News

If you missed the memo yesterday, I’ve volunteered to help with the setup phase of a Twitter account for #1000Speak, @1000Speak. That’s going well, and if you wrote a post for Feb. 20, it is perfectly acceptable to share it on Twitter again and tag @1000Speak in the Tweet.

Also, we’ve collected some of last year’s Feminist Friday posts into an e-book. The official release date is March 8, to coincide with International Women’s Day. I’m working on the blurb for the download sites today, and once that’s done, Natacha will have everything she needs to finish the editing and publishing work and get the text ready to go.

Contributors and Blogging A to Z guest bloggers: I am planning to get the themed A to Z art into the image library in the next day or two. Once that is done you can load posts at your convenience, but don’t schedule them. Some of our regular features will continue to run in April, so the scheduling is going to be a bit tricky. My suggested post guidelines are in the announcement, and the schedule is broken out by day and author here. If anything comes up and requires changes to the plan, let me know immediately so I can adjust and fill in.

Have a great week!

The Preview, and Something Sweet!

So. The Game of Thrones trailer is out a wee bit earlier than usual. I’m cautiously excited about this season. The trailer looks good and I have loved the show so far, but the later in the game it gets, the easier it is going to be for it to completely jump the shark. Martin’s writing schedule being what it is, who really knows what sort of compromises they’ve made to cover themselves in case they don’t have more book to work with before they need it? That said. Sand Snakes! Yay!!!

We have another marvelous book review from Rebecca Bradley coming tomorrow. You can read her January review of Disclaimer here.

We’ll also have our usual Agent Carter, Arrow, and Walking Dead recaps with the next installment of the Planescape: Torment series thrown into the mix.

Since this is #1000Speak week, we’re taking a break from the Feminist Fridays, but those will be back next week with a post at Things Matter. Do stop by a few of the blogs on the Femininst Friday schedule on Friday, because several of us will have compassion posts.

I will have the next installment of my Tolkien series at Part Time Monster tomorrow. Oh yes, I will! I may also run a series I have on trolling behavior for Just Gene’O this week. That one is contingent on me getting a lot of stuff loaded, but I am trying, because if I’m going to post four days in a row over there, I’d just as soon do it on the four days before #1000Speak.

Next week, Rose’s series on Masters of the Univers/Princess of Power returns and will run every other week thereafter. And Diana is cooking up some fun stuff for later.

We are absolutely awash in content, folks! Do stop by this week and thank at least one of our fabulous contributors for that.

Weekend Music: Imagine

Video

John and Yoko at Madison Square Garden in 1972. The intro is rough, and the quality is uneven. This is the YouTube version of old vinyl. Worth watching.John with the purple glasses and the sideburns is nearly always worth watching.

Plans have shifted this week, because 1000 Voices Speaking For Compassion happened and I decided to do what I could to give it a boost. You weekend readers can catch up on that drama at Just Gene’O. And seriously. There is a story there worth telling.

We’re starting a long run of contributor posts next week, and Diana will have something extra-special for you tomorrow concerning a certain television series we all love.

Weekend Music moves to Saturdays next week to make way for Arrow, because we are running that one on Friday mornings, and Weekend music just does as well on Saturdays as a single photo feature.
