Feminist Friday Discussion at Drifting Through My Open Mind

This week’s Feminist Friday discussion will be hosted by Gretchen at Drifting Through My Open Mind. After this week, we only have two more of these posts before the next off week on Oct. 31.

Gretchen is a fabulous blogger, and these discussions started as a conversation between Gretchen, Diana, and myself back in December. We’ve come a long way since then, made a ton of good friends, and gotten a lot of bloggers involved in the conversation. So yay!

  1. Here’s Gretchen’s Freshly Pressed post, Would You Talk to  Your Mother Like That? Women and the Internet.
  2. Here’s her first contribution to the Feminist Friday discussion, How has Social Media Affected Women’s Body Image Perceptions?
  3. Here’s an archive of all our discussion posts since we “officially” kicked off the project in March.

On Nov. 7, I’m planning to write the Friday post myself and then step away from these discussions until after the New Year. I’m not stepping away from the blogging about Feminism, talking with Feminist bloggers, or sharing the links for two months, though. I’ve just got too much to do to organize another round of weekly posts before January. I’ll have more details about all this in the wrap-up post. In the meantime, stop by Drifting Through this week, and feel free to chime in if you’re feeling chatty!

Mid-Week Music, Feminist Friday Venue, and I’m Taking the Day Tomorrow!

The fact that this was recorded before I was born does not make me feel one minute younger.

Hannah is hosting the Feminist Friday discussion this week at Things Matter. This is Hannah’s first time to host and we’ve been talking about it for ages, so I’m hoping for a nice turnout 🙂 If you’re wondering about the topic, the fact that she’s been blogging about strong female characters all week might be a bit of a clue. If you don’t know Hannah’s blog, you should give it a look. Seriously. Her Banned Book Week Blog Party last week was pretty darn impressive.

I’m taking a day for myself tomorrow. A weekday, even. Since I don’t need a mental health day and the little dude has to go to school, I’m making it a social media day. There’s a better than even chance you can find me on WordPress or on Twitter tomorrow. (And by the way, I’m growing @Sourcererblog again and planning to wake up @justgeneo this weekend. If things go as planned and I get a few web pages built in the next week or so, the Tumblr re-entry is next and the Google Plus realignment will not be far behind.)

Tune in here tomorrow for a television-themed Thursday Thirteen, and if you enjoy images as much as I do, look for more photoblogs at justgeneo. I may even get a Tolkien post out this week.

🙂 🙂 🙂 Smileys for everyone! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Weekend Music – Leonard Cohen with a fabulous band

This is truly awesome. I have no idea whether I’ll be able to resume my regular blogging schedule next week or not. I’d hoped to get back to it this week, but the time to sit down and actually blog just never materialized, so I’m not making any more promises until I have a week’s worth of posts ready to schedule. I’m pretty sure I’ll have a coffee post at Just Gene’O tomorrow, though, and Will will have a Doctor Who review here tomorrow.

Sabina questions the value of the Bechdel Test in the Feminst Friday post today.  Head on over and chime in if you’re in the mood for discussion. If you’ve not checked out Victim to Charm, you should look at some of the other posts while you’re there. Sabina runs a sweet blog. You can also find her on Twitter @VictimToCharm.

And happy Talk Like A Pirate Day. ARRRR, Mateys!

Weekend Music & Feminist Friday Update

I’d intended to do a recap/restart post of the Feminist Friday discussions at Part Time Monster today, but just didn’t have the time to get it together. In fact, I haven’t even looked at the blogs since Tuesday thanks to a combination of offline obligations and computer problems. I’ll have that post over the weekend because I want to get the discussions going again next Friday, but I have to get through one more day  of work before I can even think about it.

I’ll catch up with all your comments over the weekend, and hopefully next week will be better.

Happy Weekend!
