Follow Friday: Part Time Monster

I’m starting a new weekly post, Follow Friday, in which I share a blog that I personally subscribe to and I want to recommend to you!

First up is Part Time Monster. Now, as you may know, I am a contributor at Part Time Monster. I do a monthly (sometimes) tabletop game review over there. It is written by my friend/sister-in-law, Diana. I have other friends who are contributors as well.

I think Diana’s “about” blurb sums up Part-Time Monster perfectly.

Part Time Monster is a collaborative and personal blog focusing on books, girls, monsters, and sociocultural commentary.

Diana (with the help of a contributor or two) just finished the A-Z challenge last month, each day presenting us with a FEMALE character from children’s literature. It was one of the most enjoyable reads I’ve had from a blog, and I looked forward to each day.

Roundup: #Friendly #Bloggers

So, I passed out early last night and didn’t write anything for today. Here’s a roundup of recent posts from my “Friendly Bloggers” Twitter list, and a a few remarks explaining what that list is all about.

CompGeekHolly has some thoughts on the appropriation (and misappropriation) of works from the popular culture for use in advertising. It includes a fabulous discussion of a Big Brothers/Big Sisters ad that uses The Hunger Games in a way that makes you wonder if they know what the story is actually about.

Our friend Lyn at Lazy Lady had a nice post earlier this week from New Orleans Comic Con with a lot of awesome photos.

My Wild Surmise reflects on Valentine’s Day, dorm life, and Walter Egan, and wins this week’s award for most amusing headline.

I’m going to start doing a few of these, and not on any particular schedule. They’ll be three to five links to other blogs. Sometimes they’ll be themed. This one is a random selection from blogs I visit frequently.

Part Time Monster contributor Lyn has one of the best-illustrated award acceptance posts I’ve seen yet at Lazy Lady, and a few Awesome Blog Content and Sunshine nominations.
