So. December 8. Slowdown time.
You’ll be seeing a lot less blogging here for the next few weeks. Diana and I both have a ton of offline stuff on our plates from now through the holidays. Luther’s done with his run of Walking Dead posts for now. You’ll be seeing a lot of video posts and a lot of missed days here for awhile, but we aren’t going anywhere.
If you want to know what I’m working on this month, there’s a list here. And do feel free to stop by or chat with me on other social media. I’ll be around and will be checking my threads.
Just watching what other bloggers who have been more successful than me this year are doing, I’ll tell you. I am less concerned about posting frequency than I have been since we started. A deep archive gets you some cred, and posting often helps, but the big traffic seems to be about five things.
- Search engines.
- Sharing links.
- Good art.
- Reader-friendly posts.
- Engaging with people when they show an interest.
I’m looking to have this blog posting every day next year. But honestly, those five things are so much more important than frequency, I believe we could post three times a week here over the next year and do better than we’ve done so far if we really nail them. I’ll never post just to say I posted again.
When you start to see my photos reappear, you’ll know we’re on our way back, and we may have some interesting announcements in the meantime. Do stay tuned.
I hope you enjoy the holiday season and I am looking forward to what will be posted on this blog in 2015! 🙂

I wish I could buckle down and work on this. Not that it matters, really, but me being a number-geek, I like to see how to try to effect the outcomes. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

I do, too. Just love some blog stat geekery.

okay so I’ve not been reading you long… learn some thing new every day. Amateur photographer…. yay should be an awesome year ahead… 🙂 and yes those five points seem just as vital as regular content although I think good content out ways regular content…. And I’m not much one for SEO. That seems so undependable with Google chaining the rules every now and then..

Agreed about the content. If you don’t have a standard of quality, doesn’t matter how often you post. But I don’t think a blog post has to be as flawless as a paper or magazine article.
We don’t know SEO, either. What we do is load the headline and first paragraph up with search terms. That works well for us with TV and comics. We’ve had limited success with other things.

I just realized what you did there. I did not say “amateur photographer” in this post. You are keeping up, eh?
I am off to bed, but thank you for those comments . . . elsewhere. They truly were helpful!
